The standard barcode for all retail products worldwide is the EAN13, which we supply by email in various sizes and file formats (Jpg, Tif, Eps, etc).
The standard EAN13 barcode size is 27 X 39mm. The smallest recommended
size is 10 x 32mm; the largest is 54 x 78mm; all sizes within these dimensions are available.
In the case of very small products where space for printing the barcode is limited, the EAN-8 barcode symbology is used. In such instances an application for a special 8-digit GTIN number
(Global Trade Item Number) must be made.
Retail products boxed for sale and distribution require an 'outer case' barcode which can be scanned from a distance.
In simple version, the same trade item number is used, prefixed with a zero, to create a 14-digit barcode using the EAN-128 (GS1-128) bacode symbology. The nominal size is 32 x 100mm. The minimum recommended size is 25 x 80mm.
